DAY IN THE LIFE AS A DIRECTOR OF NURSING
As a Director of Nursing (DON) at our facility, you will be
responsible for monitoring and directing the quality of the nursing
staff and clinical care team within the facility. Your day would
begin by making daily rounds to ensure the performance of the staff
and the well-being and safety of the residents. During rounds you
should evaluate the effects of care delivered by nursing staff and
assign special treatments at needed. When new residents are
admitted to the facility, you would be responsible for completing
admission assessments and care planning.
You would also be responsible for ensuring that all nursing
personnel follow established departmental policies and procedures,
and provide discipline as necessary. During budget season, you will
be asked to assist in the establishment of the annual budget, and
the maintenance of that budget throughout the year.
You teach, mentor, and inspire each member to give their best
and continue to develop professionally. Your creativity comes into
play as you plan and carry out orientations, educational
opportunities, and in-service events for the benefit of our entire
nursing staff which in-turn benefits the residents of our senior
care community. Your love for senior care is evident in all you do.

- Licensed as an RN
- Previous experience in a long term care facility
- Previous nurse management / supervisor experience
- A love for people, especially the elderly
- A heart for teaching
