Business Systems Analyst, Donor Relations and Special Events (Business Systems Analyst 3)

Our Current Opportunity in Donor Relations and Special Events

As Penn State continues a record-setting campaign, A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence, a Business Systems Analyst is needed to support the Division of Development and Alumni Relations in Donor Relations and Special Events. Reporting to the Executive Director of Donor Relations and Special Events and working closely with stewardship officers within the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR), Student Financial Services, Student Aid, Penn State IT Software Engineering, Office of Investment Management, LionPath, and in support of the Corporate Controllers Office and Financial Officers in all units, as well as other partners, this Business Systems Analyst will:

  • Lead DDAR prioritization and project management for eSteward system development

  • Lead collaboration with eSteward software engineering team, source system experts, and the stewardship network within Penn State to determine necessary updates and enhancements as the eSteward system analyst/developer for new functionality and new system interfaces

  • Represent DDAR in all new system interface meetings

  • Develop functional specification for new feature and changes by meeting with key stakeholders, end users and development staff to determine need and priority

  • Maintain project priorities and timelines

  • Responsible for the development and documentation of eSteward functionality and enhancements

  • Articulate Penn State's needs, ambitions, and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, through excellent informal and formal communications

  • Be an active team member of the Donor Relations and Special Events (DRSE) stewardship team; developing stewardship strategies and initiatives and providing training and support to University development staff and eSteward users across the University; leading all business reporting efforts for DRSE and coordinating at the highest levels with Development IT and Central IT

This position will supervise the work of one Data Analyst 3 and will provide leadership and direction for the team of eSteward software engineers. This position typically requires a Bachelors degree or higher plus 4+ years of work-related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Extensive knowledge of eSteward and/or the following eSteward source systems: LionPATH, SIMBA, EASIS, Advance Web (AWA), and GuideLION

  • A dedication to and understanding of the skills required to build relationships with diverse communities

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Programming experience and/or knowledge of Microsoft DotNet stack including C#, Vb.net, and SQL Server is preferred

  • Knowledge of retired Penn State source systems (e.g. ISIS, IBIS) is helpful

  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills

  • A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team

  • A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored
