Penn State Career Services seeks undergraduate students interested in a paraprofessional, leadership, and part-time paid employment opportunity providing student outreach. Outreach Interns will serve as Career Services ambassadors and provide quality support and outreach for the Center and its constituencies. Outreach Interns will primarily participate in Career Services outreach, presentation and tabling events, to confidently market our services to specific student populations. In addition, Outreach Interns will assist the office with survey and focus group efforts to better understand the career development needs of Penn State students. The Career Services Outreach Team is particularly focused on serving the needs of underrepresented students, and successful candidates for this position should be able to show a demonstrated interest in advocating for these student populations. Outreach Interns will also provide team member support for special events and lead various administrative duties as needed. Applications will be reviewed starting 6/15 and interviews scheduled on a rolling basis. Successful candidates will need to complete online training modules to prepare them for the position.   • Ability to be enthusiastic in telling students about what Career Services has to offer

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional time management and reliability

  • Willingness to try new things, and be creative

  • ALL majors encouraged to apply - no prior knowledge of career services is necessary

  • ALL degree levels considered, assuming you will be a registered student for the 2021-2022 school year

  • Demonstrated interest in advocating for underrepresented students

  • Able to dedicate roughly 10 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote Penn State Career Services to undergraduate students

  • Educate your peers about Career Services resources and help them to achieve their career goals

  • Present brief Career Services orientations in classrooms and for student organizations and educate students about the office at tabling events around campus

  • Act as liaisons to various academic units and administrative offices on campus, particularly those that serve special student populations

  • Propose ideas from a student perspective

  • Assist in the training/hiring of future Outreach Interns

  • Communicate personal areas of interest to influence project assignments and opportunities

  • Attend regular Outreach Team meetings

  • Administrative duties as assigned that assist in our outreach activities
