JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Cyber Innovation Division of the Communications, Information, Navigation Office (CINO), within The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at The Pennsylvania State University, located at University Park, is seeking Undergraduate interns to support research, development, and engineering activities. Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is a Department of Defense (DoD) designated University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), which serves as a center of research excellence in a multitude of areas. ARL conducts basic and applied research, exploratory development, and advanced development in support of the U.S. government organizations; contributes to the educational objectives and research goals of Penn State; and promotes the transfer of advanced technology to the U.S. government.

The mission of CINO is to provide innovative solutions to challenging national problems in sea, land, air, space, and cyber domains through basic and applied research, rapid prototyping, as well as demonstration and fielding of technologies. CINO focuses on developing the most advanced technologies and to provide expert knowledge for our Navy, Army, and other U.S. government sponsors in the following concentrations: Communications and Imaging, Cyber Innovation, Navigation Research and Development, Autonomous and Intelligent Systems, Information Science and Technology, Visualization and Decision Support, Institute for Non-Lethal Defense Technologies.

As an intern you will be working with cooperative team of experienced engineers to support laboratory operations related to:

* Development

* Test and evaluation

* Project management

This position is ideal for those with interests in electrical engineering with a focus on digital signal processing (DSP), software and/or firmware development, or business management. Depending on your area of study, you will learn or strengthen practical skills such as simulation/analysis with MATLAB, programming in C#/C++/Python, drafting electrical schematics, solid modeling, hardware interfacing, electrical fabrication, working in Linux, and aspects of project management.

Undergraduate students with the following majors are preferred: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Business.

One vacancy per degree is available.

Candidate selected may be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
