If you are a current student at Penn State and seeking employment with Penn State, please login to Workday to complete the student application process.JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The Pennsylvania State University's Office of General Counsel seeks to hire a Chief Legal Officer and Director of Compliance for the Applied Research Laboratory and Associate General Counsel of The Pennsylvania State University.Areas of responsibility will include compliance, internal investigations, federal contracting, national security issues, labor and employment matters, dispute resolution, ethics, conflicts of interest, and day-to-day legal advice to the Executive Director of the ARL and ARL's senior management. This position will also be the Director for Compliance with two direct reports to assist this position's management of ARL's DoD Compliance Program.The successful candidate may also advise the University on the full range of issues that it faces, including legal issues related to contracting, compliance, and risk management. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President and General Counsel and also the Executive Director of the ARL.This job will be filled as a level 3, level 4, or level 5 depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a J.D. or L.L.B. from an ABA-accredited law school or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher-level jobs.Applicants must be admitted to the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or be eligible for prompt admission. Prior federal contracting experience with the Department of Defense is preferred and the ability to promote and develop strategic relationships required. Experience with procurement and implementing and maintaining compliance programs is strongly preferred.The successful candidate must also demonstrate the highest level of integrity and professionalism, possess superior communication skills, have demonstrated ability to work in a collegial and professional manner with peers and clients, have a strong interest in working in the Penn State Office of General Counsel, and have a strong interest in the work and mission of ARL. Applicant selected must be eligible for a government security clearance.CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS: Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
