IntroductionThe\rMaryland Public Service Commission ("MDPSC")
Office of General Counsel seeks a\rfull-time Attorney to provide
legal and policy advice to the Commission on a\rwide array of
matters related to the regulation of gas,
electric,\rtransportation, telecommunications and other
industries.\r\r\rThis Special Appointment position serves at the
pleasure of the Appointing Authority ("the Commission").\r GRADE24
\r LOCATION OF POSITION6 St. Paul Street\rBaltimore, MD 21202\r\r
Main Purpose of JobTo provide assistance, legal and policy advice
to the Commission and represent the Commission in connection with
legal proceedings involving the Commission which are pending in
State or Federal Courts or before certain Federal agencies or the
General Assembly.\r POSITION DUTIESExcellent writing, verbal, and
communications skills are required to perform the duties of this
position, which include:\r---\tProviding analysis, advice and
support to the Commission on matters pending before it and on
matters before\r--- --- --- --- other State and federal regulatory
agencies;\r---\tReviewing, evaluating and providing analysis of
applications, transactional documents, testimony and\r--- --- ---
--- pleadings submitted to the Commission;\r---\tPreparing draft
Commission orders;\r---\tProviding oral and written briefings on
matters of interest to the Commission;\r---\tLitigating cases in
State and federal courts, and appearing before federal regulatory
agencies.\r\r MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: A Juris Doctorate
degree or equivalent degree from an ABA-accredited school of
law.\r\r\rExperience: Five years of legal experience.\r LICENSES,
REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONSCandidates must be admitted to the
Maryland Bar.\r\r\rCandidates not admitted to the Maryland Bard at
the time of application, must be admitted at the time of
