Job Description Job Description EPMS (Electrical Power
Monitoring Systems) Engineer LOCATION: Ashburn, VA (Remote) Who We
Are Janitza LP is the North American arm of Janitza electronics
GmbH, a leading German manufacturer of electrical power monitoring
hardware and software. A family-owned business, we make hardware
and software to measure and analyze power quality measures for our
data center and industrial manufacturing customers. With our tools,
companies can take action to reduce energy costs, improve uptime,
and decrease their carbon footprint. Who You Are Reporting to the
Solutions leadership team, the EPMS Engineer plays a critical role
in designing, deploying, and supporting electrical power monitoring
solutions. You work at the intersection of electrical power
systems, automation, networking, and software integration. You are
comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders-from field
electricians and controls engineers to facility managers and
executive leadership. You thrive in environments where systems are
complex, requirements are evolving, and customer expectations are
high. You bring experience working with low-voltage power
distribution systems, power meters, intelligent electronic devices
(IEDs), and automation platforms. You understand how power
monitoring systems integrate into broader facility ecosystems such
as BMS, SCADA, PLCs, and enterprise data platforms. You are equally
comfortable troubleshooting on-site as you are designing
architectures or supporting customers remotely. What You'll Do
Design and deploy Electrical Power Monitoring and Automation
Systems for datacenter and industrial customers. Support pre-sales
and post-sales activities by advising internal teams and customers
on system architecture, product selection, and integration.
Configure and commission Janitza meters, expansion modules, and
communication interfaces. Integrate power monitoring systems with
SCADA, BMS, PLC, and HMI platforms using industry-standard
protocols (e.g., Modbus TCP, OPC UA, BACnet, SNMP, MQTT). Perform
on-site commissioning, validation testing, and system optimization.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, communication, and automation
issues across distributed systems. Develop system documentation
including network architectures, I/O mappings, and as-built
drawings. Provide customer training on system operation, data
interpretation, and best practices. Collaborate closely with
Product Management, R&D, Quality, and Support teams to provide
feedback from the field. Support lifecycle activities including
system upgrades, expansions, and long-term optimization. Support
new product introductions (NPI) in the U.S. market, including
internal enablement and technical positioning. Partner with
Solutions, Technical Support, and Sales teams to support complex
customer applications. Analyze competitive products and market
trends to inform product strategy. Participate in customer meetings
to validate requirements and gather direct feedback. Support
lifecycle management activities including product updates,
variants, and end-of-life planning. Travel up to 30%, including
domestic and international trips (such as to Germany) for
commissioning, troubleshooting, alignment with global product
teams, and key customer engagements. What You'll Bring
Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in
Electrical Engineering, Automation, Controls Engineering, or a
related technical field. Strong understanding of low-voltage power
distribution systems (208V–480V). Hands-on experience with power
meters, protection relays, or intelligent electrical devices.
Experience integrating field devices into automation or monitoring
platforms. Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols
and networking fundamentals. Experience with commercial or
industry-standard EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring Systems) and/or
BMS (Building Management Systems), including configuration,
integration, and troubleshooting. Proven ability to troubleshoot
complex, multi-disciplinary technical issues. Strong written and
verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical
concepts to non-technical audiences. Experience working directly
with customers in field or project-based environments Preferred
Qualifications: Experience supporting data centers, critical
facilities, or industrial manufacturing environments. Familiarity
with SCADA platforms, PLC programming, or HMI development.
Knowledge of power quality concepts (harmonics, sags, swells,
transients). Exposure to enterprise data systems, analytics
platforms, or cloud-based monitoring solutions. Prior experience in
roles like Power Systems Automation Engineer, Controls Engineer, or
Electrical Systems Engineer.
