Accountant Location: Hybrid / Mclean, VA Department: Accounting &
Finance Reports to: Director of Accounting Position Type: Full-Time
Position Summary: The Senior Accountant will play a key role in
ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the company’s
general ledger and accounts payable functions. This position
requires a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, government accounting
standards (FAR, CAS), and experience working in a DCAA-compliant
environment. The ideal candidate will bring both hands-on technical
expertise and a strategic mindset to support month-end close, audit
readiness, and accounts payable. Key Responsibilities: Assist with
full-cycle general ledger accounting functions. Ensure timely and
accurate month-end and year-end closes. Create schedules, account
reconciliations and journal entries for accounting areas including
debt issuances, leasing arrangements, prepaids, goodwill,
intangibles, and other items as assigned. Ensure compliance with
GAAP, FAR, and CAS regulations. Assist in the implementation of new
accounting standards as applicable Own expense reporting process
including reconciliations, review of vouchers, payment processing,
and corrections. Serve as a backup to the accounts payable
function, as needed. Support external audits, including financial,
DCAA, and internal control reviews. Participate in system upgrades
and process improvement initiatives. Conduct account research and
handle ad-hoc accounting, reporting, and administrative tasks as
necessary. Recommend and implement best practices to optimize
efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls. Collaborate accross
the organization to ensure accurate accounting and to resolve
issues and discrepancies in a timely manner. Promote a positive
team environment through all relationshipsto ensure optimal
performance and professional growth. Conduct regular performance
reviews and provide coaching to enhance team skills. Perform other
duties as required. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor’s degree in
Accounting. 4 years of accounting experience, managerial experience
is a plus. Strong understanding of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and indirect
rate structures. Advanced Excel skills and experience working with
large datasets. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong
relationship skills. Preferred: CPA a plus Knowledge of Deltek
Costpoint accounting software. Experience with financial audits and
DCAA compliance. Government contracting experience. Public
